Places of Interest

Mashobra has several excellent picnic spots within thick woods of cedars. Trek around Mashobra or Craigano. Enjoy the fresh scent of pine and cedar, walk amongst the orchards and admire the old heritage sites and monuments that dot the entire area.

Since Mashobra is part of the Shimla Reserve Forest Sanctuary, trekking here is a delightful experience, surrounded by a variety of flora and fauna and all the forest creatures, including the shy musk deer, the state animal of Himachal. You could also trek your way to the many peaks to catch some breathtaking views.

About 9 kms away from Mashobra is Naldehra, a former camping ground during the British colonial rule, now home to a spectacular nine hole golf course.

While at Shimla, the erstwhile capital of the British Raj, apart from the sheer beauty presented by its mountains, valleys and forest, some of the other attractions include The Ridge, Christ Church, Jakhu Temple, Summer Hill, Himachal State Museum and the Library.

Further up you can head to Mahasu, famous for its ancient temple. Or perhaps Kufri or Narkanda, famous for its ski slopes.

Fagu, situated in the middle of apple orchards and forests is a great place to relax with a luncheon picnic basket.

Feel the adrenalin rush as you river raft on the Sutlej river. Indulge yourself in the hot spring baths at Tattapani. Enjoy the heritage walks at Chail.

Local Festivals & Fairs

The Sipi Fair is a colorful festival that begins in the month of May. The fair day is also a public holiday. This festival is attended by local officials as well. This festival is organized in Mashobra.

The Summer Festival also generally takes place in May, when summer begins to unfold. It is a festival of colours, and the natural ambience of the district makes this fair even more enjoyable.

You can join other skating enthusiasts to celebrate the Ice-Skating Carnival in Shimla.
