When it comes to a vacation in Goa, we have all done the drill. Most of us have escaped to this city in search of peace, quiet and serenity, something that Mumbai lacks tremendously. The houses of Goa museum is a rare sight that is a collection of houses by reputed architect Gerarld Da Cunha and is the primes expression of Goan history. This museum is located in Porvorim which is a 1.5-hour long drive from the Club Mahindra Varca Beach Resort or the Emerald Palms Property in Salcete. You can always hire a car and head out for the day. The museum has a variety of interesting houses and a café that you can sit down and eat at once your tour is done. Take your children for a long drive and then head back to the resort for a sumptuous Goan meal.
Another area that demands attention and is resplendent with vibrant colours, Portuguese styled houses, old villas and buildings projecting balconies painted in traditional tones of pale yellow, green, etc. is Fountainhas in Panjim. This is an area that your family will spend admiring and the walk done the narrow lanes inside Fountainhas is truly an enriching experience. Located a little further away from Porvorim, Panjim is a half an hour drive ahead. You can always plan a day trip and cover both locations in one day. Having lunch at Venite or Mum’s Kitchen or the famous Ritz Classic is a great choice when you visit Panjim city.
Children love to go to the beach and a great combination is sitting at a café that is at the beach or faces the golden sand. There are a couple of cafes at Anjuna beach that will let you relax, soak in the atmosphere as the waves hit the rocks creating a serene ambience. Café Eva is a tiny café tucked away in one of the lanes at Anjuna beach. Watching the sunset at this café as you devour their pancakes and sip on some coffee is a great idea for an evening out with your family. Anjuna beach is a two-hour long drive from Varca and though it seems far can prove to be a great outing for the day with the family.
Exploring the various Portuguese style churches, the forts and monuments can be a great way to spend the day in Goa. There are flea markets such as the Friday Market and even a Saturday Night market at Anjuna which is a pop up every Saturday containing various food stalls and shopping opportunities. Apart from these tourist attractions, there are various activities near the Club Mahindra Varca Beach Resort such as jet ski, para gliding and many more that can keep your children excited and their get their adrenaline going.
