This quirky, eccentric film centres around Ferdie Pinto, an elderly postman who decides to search for his long-lost love, Stephanie, after receiving a surprising letter at midnight. With the help of his friends Angie, a young widow, Rosie (Angie’s mother-in-law) and Savio (Angie’s ex), Ferdie embarks on a road-trip through picturesque Goa to locate his beloved Fanny. Director, Homi Adajania, manages to pique curiosity and create intrigue for 105-minutes. The characters are real and raw, especially the bumbling yet endearing protagonist played by veteran actor, Nasiruddin Shah. The script is witty and the cinematography is alluring. Enjoy Goa’s lush, green landscapes and charming architecture. This film is best enjoyed with family by your side and of course, a big tub of popcorn in hand.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Nothing says “road-tripping” quite like Zoya Akhtar’s romantic drama, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Regarded as one of the best road-trip movies in Bollywood, this soulful film ticks all the right boxes of a satisfying binge. The plot focuses on three friends, Kabir, Imran and Arjun, who vacation in Spain prior to Kabir's imminent marriage. The trip turns out to be a cathartic experience, where the characters mend fences, heal wounds, fall in love with life, and also, combat their worst fears. From Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s melodious original score, to the cast’s stellar performances, we’d recommend this 153-minute flick as a tribute to travel. Life of Pi

This nail-biting, visual masterpiece by director, Ang lee, is next on our list of best movies to watch with kids. Based on the philosophical novel by Yann Martel, Life of Pi follows a young boy from Puducherry, who explores concepts of spirituality and metaphysics from a very young age. The protagonist, Pi Patel, finds a way to survive in a lifeboat that is adrift in the middle of the choppy sea, somewhere in Manila. His fight against the elements of nature is further heightened by the presence of a hyena and a male, Bengal tiger. Winner of 4 Academy Awards, this film is a must watch for the family of movie buffs. An outstanding cast consists of actors such as Suraj Sharma, the late Irrfan Khan, Rafe Spall, Tabu, Adil Hussain, and Gérard Depardieu. Magnificent visual effects bring this tale of faith and friendship to life!      

Queen

Who can resist a story of self-discovery? Now, this is a fun-loving film that will remind you to persevere no matter what life throws your way. The plot centres around naïve Rani, who is devastated after her fiancé leaves her days before the wedding. Heartbroken but undeterred, she decides to go on their honeymoon alone. From suburban New Delhi, to cosmopolitan Paris, to eclectic Amsterdam, she manages to venture out of her comfort zone, make new friends, and finally embrace her true, authentic self. One of the best travel movies in Bollywood, this one comes highly recommended because of its great cast and riveting storyline. Snuggle up with your family members and prepare for many, many laughs with Vikas Bahl’s heart-warming comedy flick.
