Monsoon Season (June to September):
Temperature: 20°C to 30°C
This is when the waterfall is at its most powerful, fed by heavy rains. The falls are lush, and the surrounding forest is vibrant. However, access can be tricky due to muddy terrain, and the falls may be closed for safety.
Post-Monsoon (October to February):
Temperature: 20°C to 30°C
The falls still have a strong flow, and the weather is pleasant. This period provides the best mix of accessibility and impressive views.
Summer (March to May):
Temperature: 25°C to 35°C
While the water levels reduce during summer, it's still a good time to visit if you want to explore with fewer crowds and enjoy other attractions in Goa.
There are many interesting fables about Dudhsagar Falls.
One such story is of the beautiful princess who loved taking a bath in the lake near her home, which is where the Dudhsagar falls originate from. As part of her bathing ritual, would always drink a glass of milk in her golden mug.
One day, when she was bathing in the lake, she noticed a charming man gazing at her from a distance. To block his sight through the crystal-clear water of the lake, she immediately spilled the milk from her mug into the water. It is said that it is the milk from her mug is still endlessly flowing in the streams of the waterfall, hence the name, ‘Dudhsagar Waterfall.’
This tale is a popular story among locals and tourists, adding a layer of enchantment to the already stunning site.
