Starting next month, tourists visiting Bengaluru will have the opportunity to embark on guided tours of the iconic Vidhana Soudha. This move follows the Karnataka government’s approval of a proposal by the Tourism Department aimed at making one of the state’s most significant landmarks more accessible to the public.
Tourism Department officials noted that guided tours of government buildings are a popular attraction in many countries, including India’s own Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. With this initiative, Karnataka hopes to offer a similar experience at its seat of power.
Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru is a majestic landmark and the seat of Karnataka's legislature. Built in a grand Neo-Dravidian style, it symbolizes the state's political heritage. Known for its architectural splendor and iconic dome, it stands as a proud testament to democratic governance in Karnataka.
Guided tours to Vidhana Soudha will offer visitors a chance to learn about the history, archives, and functioning of the government. Specifics such as ticket prices and access points are still being finalized. The department plans to operate the tours between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. in multiple time slots. To ensure smooth operations and manage security, each group will consist of 30 visitors for a one-hour guided experience.
Security protocols will be strict. Tour guides must submit visitor details to the Vidhana Soudha security team on the day of the visit. Entry will only be allowed upon presenting a valid ID such as Aadhaar or Voter ID.
Meanwhile, the recently inaugurated permanent lighting system at Vidhana Soudha will enhance the visual experience for visitors, especially during evenings and weekends.
