Pushkar is one of the most underrated places in Rajasthan. You may talk about the stunning palaces, the magnificent forts, the pristine lakes and the historical monuments in Udaipur, Jaisalmer and Jaipur. But the landscape in Pushkar has its own charm.
Home to the only Brahma temple in the world, Pushkar boasts of a tranquil vibe, which I felt a strange affinity to. The quaint town is known for its places of worship, and the annual Camel Fair, a mega event that attracts thousands of traders and visitors.
Surrounded by hills on three sides, nature in Pushkar has been very kind and has blessed the city with stunning landscape. As pretty as the city is, it has an interesting mythological history, making it a fascinating city. Legend has it that Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, once dropped a lotus to the ground. He then decided to name the place after a flower, and thus the name, Pushkar.
Apart from the Brahma temple, which is an important pilgrimage site for the Hindu community, there are many other interesting places to visit in Pushkar. I personally loved visiting the Pushkar lake, Man Mahal, Varaha temple, Gau Ghat, Rose garden and Budha Pushkar Lake.
Another interesting fact about Pushkar that very few know is that the city is known as the ‘rose garden of Rajasthan,’ the rose essence extracted from the roses grown in the city is exported all over the world.
With many places to visit and things to do in Pushkar, you need good accommodation, which acts as a perfect base for all your Pushkar adventures and gives you a memorable holidaying experience. You need not look further than the Clarks Safari Pushkar, one of the best resorts in Pushkar hosted by Club Mahindra.
The property is tucked in the golden sands of Pushkar is a perfect combination of tradition and modern; the architecture and the rooms in the resort captures the soul of Rajasthani countryside and yet boats of all the modern amenities. Living here is an experience that you will cherish forever.
