Things to Do
This grand festival is celebrated annually at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. For 9 days in the months of September and October, thousands of devotees gather to witness the festivities, participate in the rituals and receive blessings from the lord.
A delicious and comforting dish, Pongal is made with rice and moong dal and can be either sweet or savoury. With a dash of curry leaves, ginger, hing, pepper, cumin and a drizzle of golden ghee, this is comfort food for the spiritual soul.
Although this famous Laddu is available across India, you really must savour its sweetness in its city of origin. Made from the magic of gram flour, cashew, ghee, cardamom, sugar, sugar candy and raisins, you will find this laddu wherever you go.
This famous temple is the only Shiva temple in the vicinity of Tirupati. Located 4 kilometres from the Tirupati Railway Station, Kapila Theertham has a beautiful waterfall inside the Kapileswara Swamy Temple.
Dedicated to the goddess Padmavathi - the devoted consort of Lord Venkateshwara - this temple carries a beautiful legend about them and the manifestation of Sri Padmavathi Devi. The temple also houses sub-temples, such as Sri Krishnaswamy Temple.
